Military & Veterans Cruise Discounts

Military & Veterans Cruise Discounts

Finding military and veteran discount rates on cruises can be a daunting task as each cruise line has different programs for military personnel and veterans. Almost all have military rates that extend to retirees and reservists and some cruise lines have veterans discounts with proof of service. (Mainly a DD-214, veterans designation on a drivers license or a VA ID). These military rates are limited in nature (due to supply and demand) and only apply to certain destinations with certain carriers. A little known secret is that there are travel agents that can put together military discount travel packages that bundle air, hotel and cruise that can beat individual military discounts or veteran discounts. Before we get down to how to beat military cruise discounts using smart travel agents, we will examine each cruise lines' military/veteran discount policy.

AMA Waterways

AMA Waterways provides high end river cruises in Europe, Asia, Russia (broken out separately) and Africa. In Europe, you can find five star cruises on major cities along the Rhine River, the Danube River and the Rhone River. In Asia, you can find excellent cruises in Vietnam and Cambodia. African cruises are along the Chobe River. AMA has military discount rates on select cruises and members that travel with the military member can also receive discounted rates.
