It is marathon season! Marathons are expensive. They cost a lot of time, sweat, tears, energy, and they even cost a lot of money. From new shoes to gel packs, there are lot of hidden costs that come with running a marathon. The last thing you want to stress about is paying the registration fee so we rounded up some marathons that honor your service with a military discount.


The Quad Cities Marathon:The Quad Cities Marathon held on September 28, 2014 in Moline, IL benefits prostate cancer and the Erika Kate Hope Alliance, which helps families who have children with life threatening diseases. The race covers 4 cities along the Mississippi River. The Quad Cities Marathon is offering a 50% discount for active duty military, national guard, or reserves. The entry form must also include a photocopy of a current military ID card and must be received by Friday, September 13, 2014.


Marine Corps Marathon:This year’s marathon on October 26 is already full but be prepared for next year! Military members have the opportunity to register early in February and the marathon usually sells out in minutes. Active duty and reserve members of the U.S. military will receive a 15% discount.


Zion Half Marathon: Get ready for the Zion Half in 2015! Held in the spring, the half marathon winds through Zion National Park. To honor our heroes, the Zion Half Marathon is offering a $65 entry fee to anyone with a military ID, including spouses and children under 21. To get your discount, use the code MILITARY upon checkout. Proof of affiliation will be required at bib pick up. The half marathon also offers a 100% refund including race extras and processing fees if a service member receives orders that will prevent them from running in the race. In addition, service members will receive a free entry into another race.


Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon & Half Marathon: This might be the best deal yet. The Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon invites all active duty military personnel to run for free. This is the first year for the race and it happens on April 27th in Canton, OH. Registration closes on 4/23.
