Disney Discounts Decoded

It seems like everyone we know is hitting the road to Disney World this vacation season. We'll be honest, the military discounts at Disney, while substantial seem a little confusing to us. There are so many different parks, rides, hotels, resorts, cruises - it's all a bit overwhelming for MVDC. We thought it might be for you too so we did a little investigating to clear things up and ensure you are getting the best discounts for our men and women in uniform.

Park Admission:

From now until September 28, 2013 active duty and retired military, which includes the National Guard, Reservists and the U.S. Coast Guard can purchase a 4-day Park Hopper for $156.00 per person. A Park Hopper allows same-day access to all four of the Disney theme parks which includes Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. A 4-day Park Hopper base costs $333.35 per person without the military discount so the savings is substantial. In addition, eligible military personnel can purchase a Water Park Fun & More pass for $28.00, which is normally $57.00. These passes must be purchased at U.S Military sales outlets only which are usually on bases and one service member is limited to six passes. The best part? Passes may be cheaper than advertised when purchased on U.S. military bases. Head down to your local Information, Ticket, and Travel (ITT) office and check it out!

You can also purchase discounted tickets for one day, one park or any combination through the "Magic Your Way" Tickets. While available, these are not as popular considering the savings amounts from 4% - 8% (depending on the number of days, parks and options desired) as compared to the almost 50% saved with the 4-day Park Hopper.

Walt Disney Resorts: Through September 28, 2013, rooms at Disney Resort Hotels are being discounted for members of the U.S. Military. We know it's a little vague but staying at a Disney Resort will guarantee you complimentary guest transportation throughout the resort, complimentary transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport for your family and also gets you extended hours at the heme park so you can enjoy the parks with less crowds.

Shades of Green: Shades of Green is an Armed Forces Recreation Center located on Walt Disney World Resort property. Eligibility rules includes active duty military, retired military, reservists, National Guard, Cadets and Midshipmen, Honorably Discharged Veterans with 100% service connected disability, and former and/or surviving spouses and family members. For a full list of eligibility requirements, click here. From now thru September 30, 2013 a four night package for two people starts at $568.00 for E-1 thru E-5 and Cadets. Price increases depending on rank to $697.60.

We hope this helps clarify the DIsney discounts for you. Keep in mind these are for Disney World in Florida. Disney Land in California has a separate military discount offer. We think it's a great deal and a great way to honor our heroes, past and present.
